Comparison of the Photocatalytic Degradation of Congo Red Dye Using NiO and NiO-NiFe2O4 Composite

NiO and NiO-NiFe2O4, composite had been synthesized by the coprecipitation method characterized using XRD, FTIR, UV-DRS, SEM-EDS. The photocatalytic degradation performances of photocatalyst were investigated visible irradiation, in which Congo red dye was used as a model. process assessed through three variables: pH solution, initial concentration, irradiation time. removal efficiency 98.45% achieved NiO-NiFe2O4 at 6, an concentration 100 mg/L, time 120 minutes higher than that obtained NiO, 78.5%. Pseudo-first-order suitable to describe kinetics red, with values k = 0.0114 min-1 t1/2 60.789 min photocatalyst, =0.0225 30.8 NiO-NiFe2O4. consecutive reuse three-time 98.45, 97.13, 96.21%, while 78.30, 77.12, 75.32%. Therefore, considered more effective reducing NiO.
